At last some Art

Before we leave for home, a moment to draw our memories though a sketch of Robin Hood. We've said our goodbyes to the NZ4, Wainwright and the C2C, time now to return back to the Bolton and reality!

Thursday 8 September 2011

Big Thanks

Big thanks to all who have kindly sponsored us! We have raised over £1000,00 for the two charities, so once thanks everyone!

Finishes here

Coast to coast, 200 miles completed! Amazing

Dawns next luxury BB

Steve finds C2C hermitage on route and books spa break for the family in December!

Final day

Steve contemplates letting the train take the strain. Is there enough steam in him though for the final shunt to the end of the track at Robin Hood Bay?

Beggars Bridge

End of Day 12, 23miles today over the North York Moors. Sun, Wind, Rain and of course great company with the NZ4 (we will miss the friendly banter, chats and shared experience) Final treat was rainbow over Robin Hood Bay in the distance, that's tomorrow, and our final day of 18 miles to dip our feet in the North Sea. As for now our best BB treat with real coffee and cream tea served on arrival!

Fat Betty

Stopped to trade food with Fat Betty, bit like being on Swop Shop in the 70's, always end up with the left over rubbish!

Day 12

Arrived last again, just when Wendy had finished her
M&S packed lunch, special delivery to her on route.

Tuesday 6 September 2011

Wainstones

Made it to top of Cleveland view point safely! Escorted with NZ2, strangely no 'wanted persons' in sight, but rumoured to be roaming the woods below.

WARNING stay on the track!

Police have issued a warning to walkers on the Cleveland Hills today to stay on the paths since a rare sighting of the legendary Wild Man of Wool-a-Wonga. A statement said "avoid all contact with this scary person" who police described as walking slowly with a limp, missing front teeth and often shouting abuse at passing walkers, in a strange accent. Advice is to stay on the path and report all sightings!

Day 11

First real soaking of the walk presents Steve with the ideal opportunity to wash his smalls!

Monday 5 September 2011

150 miles done

John bores another rambler to death, causing a chain reaction. Done 23 miles today only 50 to the seaside! Will the NZ4 be there to celebrate?

Arrived in Bolton

Must have taken a wrong turning this morning as arrived in Bolton! Maybe in the rush to leave the nightmare pub BB we wandered off the path

Sunday 4 September 2011

Afternoon tea

Afternoon tea with NZ4 was a delight at their BB. However things deteriorated rapidly, when we arrived at our BB - which is like a scene from Royston Vassey! We've locked and bolted the doors, and if we are not seen on the path tomorrow please send for back up!!

Leaning tower of Richmond

Steve soaks up the Local history and points out the sights to all fellow walkers on c2c

Richmond poses questions!

Is this to be the pinnacle of our achievements? Is it true its all down hill from here? Answers in less than 500 words to Ben Clarke.

Peace and quiet

Steve enjoys the silence of the dales, John obviously has nothing worth while to say today!

Saturday 3 September 2011

Day 9

Today's walk Reeth to Richmond along the River Swale. Our shortest days walk 13 miles approx, Steve is smiling as the sun is out, shorts back on, and he saw Dawn last night with friends from Bolton. They joined us for luxury 3 course fine dinning at the youth hostel in Ginton, Steve even treated the table to a whole bottle of wine, excellent. After yesterday's walk from Keld in he rain we hope it's sunshine from now on all the way to the seaside:)

100 mile point

Scary moment in swaledale moors. Steve manages to keep the hounds at bay, "they will go hungry tonight"

Youth Hostel

Open fire and bath filled straight from the range. Room with a view and open planned surrounding . You can't beat a good hostel, and this one for Steve is like home from home!

Tractor for sale

One previous owner, low milage, needs a little tlc, will sell or part-ex for VW camper, contact Steve on C2C.

Thursday 1 September 2011

Half way!

Looks like we improved over the week, only got lost once since last Friday! All downhill now I've been informed, straight to Robin Hoods Bay.

End of day 7

Over half distance now done. Great walk, even though at times noisy with the none stop groans and yapping from those 'down under'. We will enjoy the next few days on our own. Peace and quiet! Having rest day and stocking up on home made food from mum! Back on tracks on Saturday when we will once again do our part-time jobs as ambassadors for the English Tourist Board for all these visitors from far distant lands with guided commentary of c2c!

Cream tea!

This walk just got better with cream tea on route. So much to healthy regime!

Tea shop

Yorkshire cream tea, with free range children, yum!

Nine standards

Made to top, unfortunately view spoilt by random NZ and USA group! But did help with banner support.

Day 7

Old man takes a rest at the unusual seat up to Nine Standards Rigg, Steve meanwhile jogs on to the summit a break neck speed!

Wednesday 31 August 2011

Day 7

Actually could just stay in bed today! Got the delights of a mud and bog bath to face on the tops, but only 13 miles today so be done before dark!

Not quite there yet

20 mile walk today think we all looking rather knacked esp Murrey who said the agenda needed to be altered!

Looking happy

John and celebrity walking guest, poor replacement for Julia but those legs and socks detracted from john's

Tribute to Phil!

Day 6

Robin hoods grave. Obviously he got lost also, as found him nr the M6

Tuesday 30 August 2011

End of day treat

Lakes best beer tastes better in Yorkshire. Taking on extra liquids for big 20 miler tomorrow, Julia would be proud of us!

The cracks

The cracks are beginning to show at Shap Abby, but not in our joint performance as we motored along Hawswater at 4.5miles p/h!

Shap Abby

65 miles done. Day 5 almost over. 8 hour walk today.

Lunch at bottom

Just to say we arrived at bottom safely, still walking with new friends from NZ

Top of Kidsty pike

Please support the walk, cause it's hard and cold!

Day 5

Rain on tops with NZ group :(

Sunday 28 August 2011

Day 4

Up and ready to go! 7.00am maybe that's cause we went to sleep last night at 9.15! Well another climb, maybe sketchbooks will come out later:)

Sent from my iPhone
John Platt

Day 3

Windy on tops. No rain. And not got lost today, maybe due to steve having the lead and John forgetting the map!

The top

Art on top of mountain!
